December 9, 2025: A compilation with snippets of (previous) interviews with Shelley (Shel) Harrison – Abolition Day 10th Anniv. (founded Dec 6, 2015) and the Abolition Amendment.
Vegan Nation features a special on the Abolition Amendment, a proposed amendment to the United States constitution (first draft published 12/25/2015, final draft published 12/6/2016).
Upon ratification, the Abolition Amendment will abolish the property status of all animals within the jurisdiction of the United States of America, thereby putting an immediate end to the meat, dairy, egg, fur, vivisection, and other exploitation- and killing-based industries.
The Abolition Amendment(proposed 2016), which will, upon ratification, abolish all forms of slavery, regardless of species; unlike the Northwest Ordinance and the 13th Amendment, the Abolition Amendment provides no exceptions to the prohibition of slavery. Section 1 of the Abolition Amendment (proposed 2016) intentionally and specifically does NOT include the clause “…except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted…”

Vegan Nation embraces authentic Veganism, the Golden Rule – ‘Don’t do unto others that which you wouldn’t want done unto you, your loved ones, tribe & community’, and the understanding of the Boomerang Effect – ‘As you sow, so you will reap’ . As we collectively sow, humanity eventually reaps – affecting someone, somewhere, in some way, at sometime within the endless rounds of Being. As such, authentic Veganism (Animal liberation) is essential for peace, justice, sustainability, abundance and freedom for all on Earth. The basis of Veganism is compassion.

Poem by Tami Hay (More poetry by Tami on 11/25. Tune in again. Thank you.) A Reflection on Maternal Bonds, Human Consumption, and the Path of Remembering…and Creative Action
She wandered through her memories,
baby suckling on her breast,
Her most tender memory of this life
Until her grandchildren were born.
She knew less then
About other baby animals
And all the newborns that could never suckle
Because her children ate cheese,
And her coffee had cream,
And, oh yes, her children’s constant pleas
For summer ice cream.
She just did not know,
But once she did,
She could not unknow.
And it was heavy, carrying that knowing;
Heavy, the throwing
Of caution to the wind
When she shared it with her own grown daughter,
Who fed her offspring this un-suckled stuff.
Hard, the crack of trampled pearls;
Feeling cramped, when she tries to unfurl
Her knowing without space to do so,
And with nowhere else to go…

“A few weeks ago, we got a call from a Texas family who had to sell their land, and with it, their beloved sheep. Their only option was to take them to the sale barn, a place where animals are auctioned off by the pound… where fear fills the air and some never make it out alive. We said yes. And because of that one “yes,” seven sheep are now safe here at the sanctuary,and just days after arriving, one mama gave birth to a beautiful, healthy lamb. This baby was born into love, not fear. They’ll never know an auction block, a cage, or a tag on their ear, only sunshine, soft hay, and kindness. We’ll soon be launching our Sheep Naming Silent Auction, where you can bid to name one of these eight precious souls. Each name you give is a symbol of freedom, a promise that their lives matter. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with us, for seeing these animals not as “livestock,” but as lives worth saving. Together, we’re showing the world that compassion is powerful enough to rewrite fate.“ – Renee King-Sonnen,founderRowdy Girl Sancutary, Waelder, Texas
Bottom – “Turkey victim of carniste homesteaders. Her name was Caffy j.Taffy. This photo was taken on the day she was murdered. She met me at the fence and seemed to be pleading. The homesteaders refused to grant her freedom to a sanctuary. That day, my last sighting was that of the organic homesteader shoving his arm up her cloaca and disemboweling her organs. Please be Vegan. Thank you.” – Marlene
