Vegan Nation features Tami Hay and Judy Carman of Million Vegan Grandmothers interview Freya Dinshah, president of American Vegan Society (president in 2000 after being secretary since 1960). Her late husband, Jay Dinshah (1933-2000), vegan since 1957, founded AVS in 1960. Freya is editor of American Vegan magazine (2000-present) & author of The Vegan Kitchen, the first US cookbook (1965) with vegan in its title. Freya is coauthor (with her daughter, Anne) of the book Apples, Bean Dip, and Carrot Cake: Kids! Teach Yourself to Cook (2012).
